Walk with the King-†Emerson said, "Few people know how to take a walk. The qualifications are endurance plain clothes, old shoes, and eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence and nothing too much." Unfortunately, Emerson's observations seem to apply to the spiritual walk as well. Since "the walk" is one of the most popular metaphors for describing the Christian live it may surprise you to learn that the phrase "walked with God" was used twice in Scripture, to describe the lives of Enoch and Noah. Carolyn examines their lives to discover what they have to teach us about walking with God. Cinderella Slippers, Elevator Shoes- â€Every little girl dreams of being Cinderella. She envisions the day her foot slips into the glass slipper & the prince sweeps her up in his arms and flies away with her on his white horse. Cinderella's glass slipper transformed her into a princess. In Ezekiel 16:10 God put shoes on the feet of his bride when he when he chose her from the roadside to become his queen and in Luke 15:22 he placed shoes on his prodigal son when came home. God, our prince designed shoes to sooth our aching soul and set us on the high road. Carolyn's insightful presentation reveals that God's desire to empower us and elevate us to heights we never dreamed possible. Perfect for women's meetings, luncheons, worship services, or retreats. Shoes Don't Leave Home without Them- Are you ready for the 911calls in your life? Shoes enable us to navigate our way through hostile terrain. In Scripture shod feet symbolized preparation and ability to face life's challenges. The Children of Israel could not afford to pussy foot across hot desert sand barefoot with Pharaoh's army in swift pursuit. So to avoid the agony of defeat, they obeyed the Lord's command and were ready with shoes on their feet. Regardless of the nature of your 911 call, the loss of a job, a failed marriage, a wayward child, war, natural disaster, or terrorist act the principles remain the same. Carolyn speaks from experience to share stories of God's preparation and provision for 911emergencies. Carolyn's husband, Ray was scheduled to work on top of World Trade September 11, but God had other plans. Ray experienced God's leading in the miraculous restoration of communication to Ground Zero. Ray joins Carolyn with this dramatic presentation. Suitable for worship services, revivals, ladies retreats, couple retreats, and any patriotic gathering. Choose to Remember-"Biblical exhortations to remember abound and they jog our memory lest we forget God's loving activity on our behalf. When we remember the mighty acts of God, we are better equipped for the future Before entering the Promise Land Moses took time to "Remember all the way that the Lord t led them " Deuteronomy. 8:2 There are several times in the course of events when we should stop to remember. Consider that it might be good to remember when you start to question God's love; when you are worrying about the future, remembering God's provision of the past can be helpful. This wonderful message encourages us to take a walk through our past and remember how God has acted in our behalf. We remember important events by building scrapbooks, making videos, writing journals and by keeping shoes. In this highly visual message Carolyn reminds us both to remember our journey and to share the stories of God's work in our lives with the next generation. This thirty to forty-five minute message is suitable for worship service, luncheons or retreats.
Do Shoes Make the Man or the Woman?-†When it comes to shoes it is clear that everyone is not on equal footing. This chapter explores three Biblical stories involving shoes in an effort to discover a biblical answer to the question, "Do shoes make the man?" David provides the answer on his death bed in first I Kings 2: 2-3 when he advises his son in how to live his life. God Performs Amazing Feats-â€The Seven Wonders of the World should have included wilderness shoes. These shoes crossed through the sea on dry ground, lasted forty years and prevented swollen feet. Like the shoes mentioned in Luke 22:35, they teach us to trust God's provision. At the Feet of Jesus-†In the ancient world, falling at someone's feet was an act of reverence, humility and petition, but falling at Jesus' feet is where we discover the priceless value of prayer. No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service-†Bare feet limit our mobility and curtails our freedom to come and go at will. In the ancient world, prisoners and captives were stripped of their shoes to make escape more difficult. Occasionally, prophets, priest and kings removed their shoes as a sign of self denial, grief or powerlessness as they went before God in humility and prayer.
Power Walking-†In the battle between Stilettos and Steel toed peace shoes, peace shoes win every time. God wants his Children to stand up and take the lead not wobble about. We are to walk in power, in strength and in peace. We are to exercise authority where ever our foot treads." Hospitality Shoes -†Escorting others is a gift of friendship. Going the extra mile not only encourages others it honors God. In the desert where Abraham lived, hospitality was a cultural necessity. Everyone understood that one day they might someday be the stranger in need. So without hidden motives, Abraham extended humble hospitality and in exchange, he received a rich blessing. (Genesis 18:1-16) The author of Hebrews likely had Abraham in mind when he wrote that we should "show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it"(Hebrews 13:2). If Abraham had not been open to the moment he would have missed a great opportunity. Acts of hospitality bring unbelievable blessings. Suitable for special meetings, worship services, outreach seminars, revivals, and retreats.
Foot Washing or Pedicure Anyone? -â€In ancient times foot washing was a common custom performed by the lowest servant to put guests at ease. Although receiving a pedicure is a relaxing and refreshing experience, I am not so sure it is pleasant to administer a pedicure to stinky feet. When anyone other than the lowest servant took to wash another's feet this was taken as an act of humility. We are called to serve one another.
Oily Feet in Shoes of Brass and Iron-â€Asher is a name that means, "happy is a blessed man."Deut. 33:24-25 uses two foot metaphors to heap blessings on him. First Asher was to "dip his feet in oil"(possess wealth), and next he was to have "shoes of brass and iron,"(strength to last to the end of his days, health) God provides shoes fit for the road each of us travels and they will last the length of our journey. Bare Feet on Holy Ground-Only when we understand the role of shoes in the ancient world can we rightly understand what it means to stand barefooted on holy ground and surrender to the sanctity of the Mighty God.
Beautiful Feet, Beautiful Shoes, Beautiful Living-†Shoes are objects of beauty and art. Shoes of the believer sparkle and flash. They are symbols of F-Freedom, L- Life, A- Attractive, S-Staus, H-holiness. Our feet bring Good News (Romans 10â€Â15) and are the primary means by which the Gospel is carried. Shoes remind me that life is a gift and I am to live beautifully.
